Project overview
Single skin asbestos cement fibre roofing and cladding sheets and GRP rooflights removed, replaced with single skin profiled steel as the unit was to used as a large shed, keeping the project cost effective for the end user.
Materials: Coverworld roof sheets, cladding sheets and flashings.
Approx Area: Roof 1600m2, Cladding 1200m2
Project Challenges
Multiple penetrations, and not much room to manoeuvre slowed the project down on the walls, with all low level ACM sheets having been concreted into the slab, meaning we first needed to remove a large amount of concrete to bring flush enough to run the closures and drip cills.
With there being so much dust, debris and fumes coming from neighbouring units, the operatives had to wear suits & masks even when not working with asbestos.
Results
With a large enough car park space given and an additional material lay down area, the client and end user both doing everything in their power to assist, everything ran according to plan and within the specified time frame.
