Project overview
The existing steel roof being dilapidated, with a very thin layer of insulation, and the client wanting to continue operation of the business, the only feasible option was to overclad.
Working out the correct insulation depth to bring the roofs U-value up to regulations, we went with a 240mm roll in addition to the existing.
With no rooflights to replace or install, and the weather on our side, the roof and gutters were completely installed within a week.
With tough access to the sides and rear of the building and with trying to work around the client and clients customers, the remaining small roofs and the cladding were completed from aluminium scaffold towers.
Materials: Firth Steels Protex roof sheets and flashings, Ash & Lacy ashgrid bar system.
Approx Area: Roof 700m2, Cladding 100m2
Project Challenges
With only a small portion of the clients car park being used for material and plant storage, the club itself being very popular in the afternoons, a nursey operating in the club in the daytimes and the adjacent shops being very busy, with shoppers using the clubs car park, working safely around the public was a high priority and at times slowed or halted the project. The roof and cladding areas being small in comparison to most industrial projects allowed us to still complete the works in good time.
Results
The heavily corroded brown roof and cladding sheets are now an olive green with a final tweak of colour coded aluminium rainwater pipes to match.
The insulation value has now been upgraded to meet regulations for a dwelling to suit the flat above the club.
Another happy client, with a lot of good feedback from the clients customers.
